I received a call from a woman who is turning 65 soon. She is working and can delay her Part B without penalty. She is also going thru a divorce. When we talked about the adjusted gross income they filed as a couple, it appears that her Part B premium will be higher than the minimum Part B premium – an issue for her particularly since she would want to have a Medicare supplement/Medigap policy and stand alone drug plan(both of which have a monthly premium).
For now, she will remain on Part A only and will revisit her financial situation after the divorce has been finalized.
