If you are not collecting Medicare, then you will need to contact Social Security to enroll onto Medicare. You can (1) call Social Security M-F 7am-7pm at 800-773-1234, (2) go onto www.ssa.gov and enroll online, or (3) go to your local Social Security office. I don’t recommend showing up at the Social Security office without an appointment…you may have a long wait.
Once you are enrolled onto Medicare Part A and Part B you will have choices regarding your coverages. Medicare was never meant to cover everything, so make sure you when you select your coverage under Medicare (i.e., Medicare Supplement/Medi-gap policy and stand-alone drug plan or Medicare Advantage Plan) that you take time to review plan options that will meet your specific needs.
