Medicare Annual Enrollment ends this Saturday, December 7, 2013. If you are on a Medicare Advantage/HMO or Medicare stand-alone drug plan, you received information in September from your current carrier regarding their plan changes for 2014. These plans may change a little or they may make a number of changes.
If you are happy with the plan’s changes for 2014, you don’t need to do anything. However, if your plan no longer fits your needs, you have through December 7, 2013 to elect a new plan for 2014.
If you are on a Medicare Advantage plan this year and your copayments have increased for next year, you have an opportunity to change to a Medicare supplement and stand-alone drug plan to be effective 1/1/14. This option provides freedom of choice of providers with a premium – both for the supplement and for the stand-alone drug plan.
Take the time to review your coverage and your needs so that you have peace mind regarding your medical and drug coverage for 2014.
