I Am On an HMO But Now Take Diabetic Drugs Which Are Costly Under My Current Plan. Do I Have to Wait Until Annual Enrollment to Make a Change in My Health Coverage?

No you don’t have to wait until Annual Enrollment (Oct. 15 thru Dec. 7) to change to a Special Needs Medicare Advantage/HMO plan (SNP) for individuals with Diabetes.  You can select that coverage anytime during the year.  However, you will have to check to see if your physicians/medical group take the SNP diabetes plan in your area.  If they do, you can request enrollment onto the SNP plan for the 1st of the month following your request.   Please remember that your drug plan benefit on the new SNP plan will pick up where your current plan leaves off.
