Yes. Medicare allows beneficiaries to change to a Special Needs Medicare Advantage/HMO plan (SNP) anytime during the year. However, you will need to check with your physicians/medical group to see if they will take the SNP diabetes plan in your area. If they do, first check with the plan to see how your drugs will be covered as well as what your medical copays will be. If you decide you want to enroll onto the SNP plan, it will be effective the 1st of the month following your request. Please remember that your drug plan benefit on the new SNP plan will not restart for the year; it will pick up where your current plan leaves off.
